(“Destroy the Waves, Not the Beaches”)
How it all started for Stefan and Guilherme
It all began in 1993, when I fell in love with water sports and the Portuguese language, inspired by a simple phrase printed on the back of a Lightning Bolt T-shirt: “Destroy the waves, not the beaches.”
This slogan became iconic among surfistas in Portugal, and for me, it marked the start of something bigger. The original shirt now hangs, full of holes, in my office. In spring 2022, it inspired me to finally launch PeLe Sports Consulting with the kind of content that truly reflects my passion.
The first time I saw someone wingfoiling was in summer 2021 – it was Guilherme, riding at the beach in Tavira. By November of that year, I found myself learning the sport in hail and 3°C air temperatures at Lake Baldeney in Essen.
By pure coincidence, I ran into Guilherme again in spring 2023, this time as a wingfoil instructor after a session at Praia de Alvor. That meeting marked the beginning of our friendship.
Thanks to my background in sport and my Portuguese language skills, I began building a wingfoil community and soon started working with leading brands like INDIANA, LiftFoil, TABOU-Gaastra, Eleveight, HotWings, and more.
Today, PeLe Sports Consulting GmbH is also based in the Algarve and, since early 2025, holds a majority stake in HONUPELE Lda. Together, we run the Honuhele Academy and offer a full watersports program in the Algarve: wingfoil and windsurf lessons, SUP tours, eFoiling, and more. All taught at our beautiful locations: Praia de Alvor, Praia do Martinhal, and Praia de Fuseta.
